Creation of kinds was good (not lucky)

Genesis 1:11-13
Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning – the third day.

God created kinds that were distinct, each complex organism made for a different role; each one would become part of an interconnected web of life. God saw that the many different forms of created life were good. Good things are the things done by God who brings perfection to all that He does.

What is Made Reflects its Maker

What may be known about God is plain …… For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, …….

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is for ever praised. Amen.

Romans 1:19-23, 25

The divine nature of God is perceived in His handiwork – the world He created reflects Him. The human mind that has wisdom perceives its own limitations and looks beyond itself and beyond created things to the One greater than itself.

Dew from heaven

song of moses

Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.

I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just.

Deuteronomy 32:1-3

The works of God are perfect.

An understanding of the things of God from his Word is like light rain causing new life to spring forth in the dry wasteland.

The wilderness will rejoice

Isaiah 35:1-2
The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendour of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendour of our God.

Where truth flourishes,
God is glorified.

The dry desert bursts into new life
and carpets of flowers
.

He stretches out the heavens like a tent

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

Isaiah 40:21-22, 25-26

Who has not looked up at the sky at night with its myriads of stars and not felt very small? And not wondered about the meaning of things? And hearing the crickets singing as night falls thought, we are all like grasshoppers hopping about in the grass.

The Power of Creation and the Power of Healing are One

A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. [In her desperation] she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.’ Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.

At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” [the disciples said “everyone is touching you”, but Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then fearfully the woman came forward to say it was her.] He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Gospel of Mark 5:25-34

When the woman touches Jesus’ prayer shawl, the fringe of his garment, power that heals and restores health is felt by the receiver and known to the Giver. This power produces tangible effects.

The power of creation and the power of healing are One. Each specific act of creation came through the same power as each specific act of restoring health. The power of God can reconfigure matter to set it up or to set it right.
